Glasgow businessman, John Cormack, has been selected as the the Scottish Christian Party candidate to fight the Western Isles in the May general election.

Mr Cormack (pictured above) is chairman of the Scottish Christian Party.

 

The 37-year-old runs his own firm and is also a director of a new Christian School in Glasgow.

 

He is a member of an independent Reformed Baptist Church.

 

Originally from Caithness in the Highlands, he the married man moved to Glasgow to attend university and has lived and worked there since completing his studies.

 

A resident of the Knightswood area of the city, Mr Cormack sits on a community council and has been involved with the Scottish Christian Party since 2006.

 

Mr Cormack said: “The Western Isles has a Christian heritage which is unique within the UK.

 

“The recent decision by the parliaments in Westminster and Edinburgh to redefine marriage is a watershed moment for our nation.”

 

He added: “The SNP, Labour, Conservative and Liberal parties united in their determination to erode traditional marriage and the family by introducing this change.

 

“This election is the first opportunity for the people of the Western Isles to demonstrate whether they agree or disagree with this change in the legislation.

 

“The Scottish Christian Party is the only party which is for Biblical marriage and opposes the redefinition of this institution.”

 

Mr Cormack said each islander must consider “will your vote endorse same-sex or traditional marriage.

 

“People throughout the UK and Christians in particular are watching, to see what the answer will be.”
