An infestation of rats has shut a primary school in Lewis.
A specialist vermin extermination team has been drafted in after rodents were found inside Uig School.
The school was closed yesterday while pupils were bussed to Bernera for lessons today.
A local building firm removed a pile of dirt and stones from the rear of the building while spots where rats could get inside have been identified.
The school which has a roll of 12 pupils has also been deep cleaned.
Parents were told of the infestation on Tuesday, the day after a public holiday.
A council spokesman confirmed: “There was an issue with rats at Uig School.
“We have finished the deep clean and the school will reopen on Thursday for pupils and staff.”
