An islander who had too much to drink at his school's 40th reunion ended up in court.

Ruairidh Finlayson of Newmarket, Lewis, became abusive to ambulance staff trying to assist him after they saw him stumble out of a taxi after the event.

Procurator fiscal told Stornoway Sheriff Court that Finlayson tried to strike out.

He pleaded guilty to attempting to headbutt, punch, kick and spit on an ambulance technician during the April incident.

He also admitted shouting and swearing.

Sheriff David Sutherland fined him a total of £400.
