The Nicolson Institute Music Trust recently secured lottery funding to set up a drumming programme.
It aims to establish a drum corps capable of playing to competition standard with both The Nicolson Institute Pipe Band and Concert Band.
Another aim is to develop a community partnership with the Lewis Pipe Band.
The £10,000 grant has enabled the purchase of equipment as well as tuition from Red Hot Chilli Pipers' drummers David Ross and David Henderson.
The two tutors are providing coaching via regular workshops as well as proposed skype sessions.
