Pupils in Barra, South Uist and Benbecula could not get to school today due to dangerous, icy roads.
Islanders report poor road conditions with buses having to turn back, and cars unable to move and skidding.
Iochdar Primary School in South Uist did not open due to “adverse weather” while Eoligarry School in Barra was shut due to potential travel hazards on slippery roads.
Lionacleit School was closed to most students. Pupils from North Uist were expected to attend as the roads were said to be not so bad there.
