A big livestock sale at Lochmaddy mart scheduled for today (Mon) has been cancelled because there is no ferry to transport the sold animals to the mainland.

A spokesperson for auctioneers, Dingwall Marts said the sale “has been cancelled due to the incident with the Caledonian Macbrayne ferry and will be rescheduled as soon as possible.”

Buyers and livestock lorries were due to use the ferry to travel over to Lochmaddy mart and to return later.
