Rural communities suffer mobile signal problems 17/8/14
A significant majority of mobile phone users in areas like the Western Isles experience having no signal at least once a week, according to industry research.
A report commissioned by telcoms watchdog Ofcom found there is poor quality mobile network service outside cities.
The further away from an urban area, the worst the chance of successfully making a mobile phone call.
Some 64% respondents living in remote rural areas -
Up to nearly half could not make calls at least once a week while 28% reported suffering signal problems every day.
