Princess Anne is due to officially open the new Lochmaddy Marina on Tuesday.

The nearly £400,000 facility is built in sheltered water between the ferry terminal and the hotel.

Already the floating pontoons, with space to berth 26 boats, has been well used by Scottish and international yacht visitors, bringing extra tourist trade into the island.

The community is invited to the opening ceremony which starts at 11am.

The marina was built by Comann na Mara which is the first body in the UK to secure Local Management Agreement (LMA) for community control of a section of the seabed from the Crown Estate.
