A teenage driver who deliberately not only drove on the wrong lane of the road but steered through a roundabout on the wrong side has fined.

He also received a £200 fine plus four points on his recently acquired licence.

At Stornoway Sheriff Court, the islander pleaded guilty to careless driving.

Perhaps as it was dark and heavily raining he did not see the two police officers watching as he drove down Sandwick Road into town in the early hours of 4 December.

Lawyer, Kevin Macpherson, said this was the youth’s first time driving in the town on a Saturday night.

His actions were “careless, impulsive and out of character.”
