New schools’ roofing contractor goes bust 8/2/12
The roofing contractor for the Western Isles new schools has gone bust.
The Hamilton-
Scott McGregor and Ken Pattullo of Begbies Traynor have been appointed as liquidators to wind up the firm’s assets.
However, the company had installed the cladding at the £5 million Westside school at Barvas before it went out of business. Only a section of external panelling is believed to be required but will not hold up the Easter opening deadline for the school.
The firm also had the contract for the the £10 million Daliburgh primary school and the new Nicolson Institute but the Comhairle says a replacement contractor will be put in place and the demise of CDW will not affect the completion of the schools.

were the roofing sub-
“However FMP are in the process of appointing a new contractor and have also employed some of the CDW staff directly or procured materials directly to ensure continuity of the work.
“There is no risk or financial exposure to the Council or the Sgoiltean Ura limited liability partnership.”
