TV celebrity Robson Green has been filming about the Western Isles for a new national television series.

With a working title of Tales from the British Coast, the show for ITV examines "interesting" aspects of coastal communities.

Producers looked for the most beautiful locations the length and breath of the country.

Robson Green, the star of Soldier, Soldier, ecclesiastical crime drama, Grantchester, as well as the Extreme Fishing programme frontman, travelled about islands to record an episode focused on the Outer Hebrides.

One of the highlights of the show is set to be the plane landing at Barra's beach airport.

Shazza Cox, who runs Barra Airport Cafe, didn't have a clue Robson was coming.

She said: "It was a big surprise. All the young staff were quite excited.

"He was really friendly and took a lot of time speaking to the cafe staff.

"They filmed us working in the cafe."

A spokesman said: "It's for a brand new, as yet untitled, ITV series about the British coast.

"Robson and the crew battled against some difficult weather conditions but had a fantastic week.

"The episode is likely to be aired early in 2017."

Robson travelled from Ullapool to Stornaway by ferry and then down to Uist and Barra.

He visited famous landmarks like the Callanish Stones, Luskentyre band Gearrannan blackhouse village.

He also sailed a sgoth - a traditional full-sized fishing sail boat typical to Lewis of over 100 years ago - as well hiring a fast boat around the east coast of Lewis and Harris.
