The Braighe road in Lewis was closed to traffic this morning as it bore the brunt of a southerly storm.
70mph winds caused the incoming tide to surge higher than normally expected.
Later, one lane was opened and vehicles streamed through in a convoy system.
As the tide receded the route was fully open but is still affected by gusts of wind.
Western Isles police advised motorists to “please drive carefully and leave extra time for your journey.”
