► List of Stornoway parking restriction changes

Changes in the road layout at the junction of Kenneth Street and Church Street in Stornoway have been made in a bid to improve safety and the flow of traffic at the corner.

A right turn at the Blythswood charity shop is now banned.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Please be aware of new road markings on Church Street Stornoway.

“There is now no right turn from Kenneth Street to drive up Church Street.”

Drivers are also asked to note the change in priority at the junction. Cars coming down Church Street should give way to traffic moving along Kenneth Street.

Additional parking restrictions have been put in place in the area with an extension of the “No Waiting At Any Time” measure at the bottom end of Church Street though vehicles are still allowed to stop to pick-up and unload at the shops.

Double yellow lines have been painted on both sides of Church Street in the section between Cromwell Street and Kenneth Street.
