Seafarers' union activists will be out in force at the Royal National Mòd in Oban on Saturday morning, campaigning to keep Cal Mac as the west coast ferry operator.

RMT members will be handing out badges and stickers as well as postcards for people to complete and return via freepost to their MSP with the message "Keep Calmac Public."

The union will have a presence at the pier in the town as well as in the square and other town centre locations from around 10am onwards.

RMT general secretary Mick Cash said: "RMT is working with politicians and communities across Scotland as we fight to keep Calmac out of the claws of Serco and firmly in public hands.

"This weekend's events in Oban are part of a national campaign that is drawing in widespread support and which those in political power will simply not be able to ignore."
