Rev Iain D Campbell

Free Church minister, Rev Dr Iain D Campbell, of Lewis, remains critically ill in hospital.

Mr Campbell was flown to a Glasgow hospital for critical care.

His family thanked all friends and the wider church community for their prayerful support.

A church spokesman said: “They are deeply conscious of the God-given inner strength, in answer to the many prayers offered on their behalf, which has helped them through the last few days.

“They would ask everyone to continue to pray for them as the days go by whilst at the same time respecting the family’s privacy in what continues to be a time of deep distress.”

Mr Campbell - who is in his early 50s - is the minister of Point Free Church on Lewis. He is also the interim moderator or temporary minister at the nearby Knock Free Church in Garrabost.

He is the editor of The Record, the monthly magazine of The Free Church of Scotland.
