After the best part of a week of ferry disruptions the Cal Mac timetable for Barra is due to return to normal by Sunday.

Problems with a main engine oil cooler resulted in the MV Isle of Lewis being withdrawn from service on Tuesday.

She was despatched to a Greenock shipyard for repairs.

The vessel is now permitted to undertake commercial voyages and left the Clyde on Friday.

She is due to make a sailing between Oban and Castlebay on Saturday though the departure time has been delayed.

The Clansman has been covering the route in her absence, including an overnight voyage arriving Oban at 5am this morning.

The knock-on effect of transferring the Clansman has hit services other island communities such as Colonsay and Islay.
