The MV Isle of Arran ferry has suffered a technical problem on her first inbound run on the South Uist and Barra route.

The vessel is covering the timetable after the Lord of the Isles was despatched for her annual overhaul in Birkenhead near Liverpool.

The Isle of Arran departed late from Lochboisdale this morning. After her call-in at Castlebay, the ship is running over a hour behind schedule.

On Monday, weather was blamed for cancelled services for South Uist after a period of disruptions on the route.
