The Red Arrows are scheduled to layover over at Stornoway Airport for a brief period on Saturday.

The team is heading to Canada to perform at four airshows to help celebrate the Royal Canadian Air Force’s 100th anniversary.

No flypast or display planned in Lewis - the visit is a technical stop on the way across the Atlantic Ocean.

The Western Isles are on their flight path to Newfoundland and a 12-strong formation of the red coloured planes will land at Stornoway Airport late Saturday morning to take on fuel ahead of the epic flight.

They aim to take-off from the airfield in two stages later in the afternoon.

The Red Arrows arrival time at Stornoway is 10.48am Saturday, flying from their home base of RAF Waddington.

This is subject to weather and other conditions and can change at any point up to and including the scheduled time.

Though arriving in one formation, departure will be split between two groups. Departure time is 3.20pm for the first group of aircraft and 4.20pm for the remainder.

The Canadian tour is taking place during a milestone year for the Red Arrows, with 2024 being its 60th Diamond season.

Their five-week visit to Canada, named Maple Hawk, follows an invitation made by the Royal Canadian Air Force and complements commitments by the Red Arrows at UK events this summer.
