MSP Alasdair Allan has welcomed the award of £504,000 Big Lottery funding for the Cothrom Centre in South Uist to develop their new ReStore recycling project.

The funding will help in the development of a carbon neutral sustainable centre for the development of various retail and training opportunities.

Alasdair Allan commented: “Cothrom are an innovative organisation providing opportunities to people in one of Scotland’s most fragile island economies.

“This latest funding award will allow them to develop and diversify many of the services they provide to the community through the ReStore project.

“I am sure that this project will further support learners to expand their skill base in a modern sustainable environment.”
