The Royal Bank of Scotland is ditching its trial of sending a mobile bank to Barra.
Thursday will be be van’s last appearance until a review decides if the island’s only bank closes for good.
Six months ago, it was announced the Castlebay branch was being axed under a wave of RBS closures.
The bank was due to shut this month.
RBS started sending a mobile bank over from Uist three times to “offer a more proactive service to customers.”

A RBS spokesman told Hebrides News: “Due to a range of factors including low usage, the ferry capacity and a degree of hostility our staff on the mobile branch have faced on a small number of occasions, we are suspending the mobile branch service from week commencing July 2, until the review is complete.”
“Our colleagues will be informing customers over the coming days, whilst the mobile branch is still running.”
Following an outcry, Barra was placed on a list of ten banking outlets granted a reprieve until the closure criteria was looked at again by an independent assessor.

At the end of the review period in September, RBS will be provided with a recommendation either to keep open or close each of the ten branches.
The review will also include all the alternative ways of banking on Barra including the mobile van.
The Royal Bank of Scotland pledged to implement the recommendations in full.
