A former island resident with a history of violence against women has been convicted of rape.

A jury at the High Court in Edinburgh found James Jackson Inglis guilty of carrying out sexual attacks in the Highlands and Islands.

Inglis - formerly of Kenneth Street, Stornoway, but now of Whitworth, Lancashire - was told he faces jail after raping a female at an address in the Highlands in 2012.

The court heard he also sexually assaulted two women.

Sentence was deferred for reports and Inglis was placed on the sex offenders register.
