A man who made racial and sectarian slurs has been sentenced to a two year community payback order.

Jason Mattison pleaded guilty to threatening behaviour, motivated by racial and religious prejudice, at Stornoway Sheriff Court.

The incident took place at Willowglen, Stornoway, in August.

Sheriff David Sutherland ordered the 46-year-old, whose address was given as Atlantic View, Islivig, Uig, Lewis, to undertake 120 hours of unpaid work.

He also received a 24 month alcohol ban.
