An islander has been banned from a Stornoway bar for two years after he caused a disturbance.

At Stornoway Sheriff Court Norman Crichton pleaded guilty to using threatening or abusive behaviour by shouting and swearing in the Harbour Inn one Thursday in February.

The 48-year-old of Aird, Point, also admitted assaulting a police constable at Stornoway police station the same night. The court heard he pushed the officer with his hands.

Sheriff David Sutherland ordered him to carryout 80 hours of community service work and not to enter the licensed premises until July 2019.
