Job description
Job Title: Project Leader, Local Food for Local People
Responsible To: Line Manager (Tagsa Uibhist) and Project Steering Group
Salary: £19,577 pro rata
Working Hours: 30 hours per week
Leave: 28 days per annum including public holidays
Special Conditions: Hours may include evenings and weekends
Based at East Camp, Balivanich
Job Summary
You will be in charge of setting up and leading the Local Food for Local People Project. You will:
- be responsible for delivering on the key objectives of the Local Food for Local Project: promoting local production, and developing easy and green distribution;
- work closely with and support the two project workers in delivering their responsibilities for the project outcomes;
- ensure that the Local Food for Local People Project delivers on its targets for CO2 reductions;
- coordinate horticulture production across all sites, working in partnership with the community;
- support project workers, volunteers and community members to develop skills, working with Cothrom’s support worker (training) and the therapeutic support worker; and
- develop and deliver community and school outreach under the project (a) to support local food production and consumption, and waste reduction, and (b) to raise awareness of climate change, sustainability, health and wellbeing, and recycling.

Local Food for Local People is a joint initiative by Tagsa Uibhist Community Services and Cothrom Ltd which aims to encourage the growing of local produce throughout the Uist community. The project is funded for one year by the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund.
