A unique opportunity to be involved in the delivery of a multi million pound redevelopment project for one of Scotland’s premier visitor attractions. The magnificent Standing Stones of Calanais are based on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis and are famous worldwide as an example one of the most complete historic stone circles in Europe.
The visitor centre is currently embarking on a huge redevelopment project and are currently looking for a Project Development Officer to work alongside the Project Delivery Director and assist in securing funding and directing the successful delivery of the new Callanish Visitor Centre, on behalf of the Urras nan Tursachan board.
Responsibilities:
- Liaise closely with the professional design team, working with them towards the completion of Riba Stage D and throughout the construction phase of the project.
- Arrange and attend client and stakeholder meetings; compiling papers, taking minutes.
- Liaise closely with accountants to create capital budget reports and finalise capital project business case.
- Compile reports to feedback to the board of directors at every stage of the capital project.
- Organise community consultation and open days for the capital project.
- Assist the Project Delivery Director to manage the project through all capital stages to ensure delivery on time and to budget.
- Assist the Project Delivery Director with approaches to trusts and foundations, major donors and corporations. Complete and submit applications for capital funding grants.
- Devise and run a cohesive stewardship plan for campaign donors, to include creating content for supporters’ newsletters and writing reports to trusts and foundations and major donors.
- Develop and manage initiatives to engage the wider Calanais community, including the development of the Friends of Calanais membership campaign and social media appeal.
- Manage social media to promote the project and update key stakeholders on project development.
- Process charitable donations, invoices and expenses, compiling income and expenditure
figures. Maintaining up-
to- date donor listings. - Build and maintain networks with colleagues across the development and heritage sector.
