Hebrides News: The Proclaimers in Stornoway

One young visitor to Stornoway when one half of the famous Scottish band The Proclaimers popped in to the Golden Ocean Chinese restaurant in the town centre at lunchtime today.

Charlie Reid went for a stroll around and wanted a bite to eat before headlining the Hebridean Celtic Festival tonight.

The little boy, also called Charlie and a fellow Hibs support to boot, was delighted when Charlie stopped to chat with him about football and share woes about the team’s dismal showing in the Scottish Premier League.

Later Charlie: "Its fantastic to be in Stornoway. There’s always a great welcome here.

He said the "festival is special because it’s here" in the Hebrides.

His twin brother Craig Reid, the other half of the singing duo said: "This is the fourth time we’ve been and it’s the driest its ever been since we being coming. We spent most of the summer in Edinburgh and its been exceptionally wet there. Its fantastic to get out into the open air."

He praised the event for welcoming youngsters and families.
