Prestigious award for Cal Mac boss          2//4/14

Martin Dorchester, cheif executive of David MacBrayne Limited has been named Public Sector Director of the Year by the Institute of Directors Scotland.

The awards, which attract nominees from an array of businesses across Scotland, celebrate the success of the very best of Scotland’s leaders and recognises those who, by believing in their own vision, have placed their organisation in a strong and sustainable position for the future.

Martin Dorchester said: “I am hugely honoured to have received this award. I enjoy every minute of working at David MacBrayne Limited and I could not have achieved what I have without the extremely knowledgeable, driven and, above all, passionate people who work for the company.

“As a Company we have a strong vision in place and our people are working together towards that vision – to be the UK’s leading ferry and port operating company with safety and the provision of lifeline services at our core. We have come a long way but our journey continues.”

David McGibbon, chairman of David MacBrayne Limited said:  “This is a fantastic recognition for a man who has come on board at a time of great change for the organisation and he is exactly the right person to lead that change.

“Martin has my full support and that of the board and we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate him on this award and on what he has achieved to date. We are confident that he will continue to transform David MacBrayne into an organisation that is fully prepared for what the future requires from it.”
