Hydro engineers are bracing themselves for more power cuts on Saturday evening as strong winds and intermittent lightning is forecast.

The lights were out in Vatersay and Castlebay tonight following a power cut in the area. Hydro engineers located the fault and made repairs to restore electricity supplies.

Earlier Berneray and parts of North Uist, including Bayhead and Claddach Valley as well as the Carinish area were without electricity.

On Lewis, Sandwick and Holm were affected during the day.

There were also faults in South Lochs.
