Over 1,000 properties suffered powercuts on Monday evening and Tuesday morning as the latest storm swept across the Western Isles.

The Mangersta and Islivig areas of Uig lost electricity supplies in the afternoon.  Most households were reconnected with a temporary generator.

Later, parts of Newmarket and Laxdale as well as Galson and Ness, as well as Pairc were in darkness.

Other Lewis districts face outages over the evening.

Hydro engineers braved wild conditions to restore supplies.

Meanwhile, flights to all island airports were affected as the band of high winds moved northwards.

Glasgow flights for Barra and Benbecula suffered cancellations.

Later plane services in and and out of Stornoway were put off due to adverse weather conditions.

Ferries are due to sail on Tuesday and will operate amended services after being stormbound in harbour on Monday.
