Each house in the district has been visited

Villages in the Hushinish to Bunavoneader area of north Harris are in their second day of powercuts after the impact of electrical storms.

Hydro engineers are trying to fix different faults caused by lightning strikes.

All homes in the area are set to have supplies restored by tomorrow (Fri) morning, Hebrides News understands.

Earlier, the powercut was anticipated to last for a further 48 hours.

Coastguard, HebSar volunteers and police officers were visiting properties in the affected area today check up on the elderly and infirm and to identify any needs.

Affected residents are being provided with a hot meal at a local hotel tonight, courtesy of the energy firm.

SSE was planning to sending a catering truck over from the mainland, if repairs took longer.
