Villages along the Golden Road in Harris were in darkness today after a storm hit the network.

Homes in Grosebay, Scadabay, Grosebay, Cluer, were affected by the power cut as was parts of East Tarbert.

Over 200 homes in the North Lochs district of Lewis were also without electricity this morning.

Power company, SSE, expects more power cuts with the weather forecast showing persistent high winds, heavy snow and risk of lightning, with gusts of up to 75mph possible overnight from Thursday into Friday.

The firm said it is “well resourced to respond quickly to disruption to electricity supplies, where it is safe to do so, and is mobilising its operations as required.”
