A mobile post office service will operate in South Harris following the closure of Leverbugh branch.

The Cauldron gift shop and post office shut this week after over 20 years of trading.

No buyer came forward for the business in the last four years.

Post Office services will be available from a van parked by Leverburgh Hall for a two hour period - between 9.30am and 11.30am - on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The outreach service will be overseen by Tarbert post office.

Post Office Network area operations manager, Kenny Lamont, said: “We understand how important having a post office service is to residents in the Leverburgh and we are confident this mobile outreach service will meet their needs and secure services for the future.”
