An islander has been charged in connection with an alleged disturbance at the Acres Hostel in Stornoway.

The man made no plea when he attended a brief appearance at Stornoway Sheriff Court. He was released on bail and his case was adjourned to a later date

It is alleged the 21-year-old acted aggressively, attempted to force entry to a room, uttered verbal threats of violence and brandished a pool cue on Friday.

He is accused of having an offensive weapon - the pool cue.

The man also faces a charge of allegedly breaching a previous bail order by entering the Acres premises.
