Police Scotland have been carrying out a stop and speak operation with motorists
at Willowglen in Stornoway, close to the area missing 16-year-old Aleksandr Benga
was last seen.
Police officers handed out leaflets to motorists in an effort to gather more information
for their ongoing investigation.
A dive team is arriving on the island today and will be undertaking activity within
the Lews Castle grounds.
Jane Mackenzie, Police Scotland Area Commander for the Western Isles said: “We are
very concerned for Aleksandr.
“Given the weather conditions and how it’s been over the last week, we’re very concerned
especially if he’s still out in the open air.
“We hope that he has possibly sought shelter somewhere and would urge people to check
any outbuildings, sheds, garden areas, where he may have sought shelter.”
