A Lewis-born minister is due to pass the milestone of fifty years in the Christian ministry next month.

Rev Malcolm MacLean, whose home is in Shawbost, was ordained to the Ministry by the Free Presbytery of Lochcarron on 5th October 1965.

He served the Free Church first in Lochcarron and then in North Tolsta.

Since retiring in 1996 he has been active in preaching the Gospel throughout the Western Isles and beyond and he still oversees the keeping of a weekly prayer meeting for the Free Church (Continuing) in Bragar.

The Outer Hebrides Presbytery of the Free Church (Continuing) has organised an event to mark this ministerial jubilee.

A service is to be held in Stornoway Free Church (Continuing) on Friday 2nd October at 7.30pm, expected to be led by Rev John Morrison, a former Minister at Shawbost.

Everyone is welcomed to attend the service which will be followed by refreshments in Sandwick Hall.
