Ferry passengers delayed by landslide  28/10/14

The Inverness to Ullapool road has been affected by a landslide.

Police said there are no possible diversions after heavy rain caused the landslip on the A835 at Garve.

It means travellers on the MV Isle of Lewis ferry - which is due to arrive at Ullapool at 9.45am will be delayed.

One lane of the road has now re-opened. Motorists are advised that there may be delays and journey times should be amended accordingly.

 

Work is underway to clear the pile of mud and debris washed onto road some 100 metres north of the Garve Hotel.

The route was fully closed earlier.

Poliice could not  estimate when the roadway will be back to normal.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area and are advised to motorists to take extra care when travelling on roads throughout the Highlands.

Heavy rain has continued to affect roads throughout the night and the early morning.
