Police in the Western Isles are appealing for information after two opportunistic thefts from vehicles in Stornoway.

Both incidents occurred between 8pm on Saturday and Sunday morning.

Personal items were removed from a car parked on Goathill Road.

These were recovered nearby soon afterwards.

Some items taken from a van on Keith Street have since been recovered but some low value personal items remain outstanding.

Sergeant Jane MacKenzie said: "We are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in these streets on the night in question to contact us as soon as possible.

"I would also take the opportunity to remind people to make sure their property and vehicles are secure at all times to deter opportunist thefts.”

Any information can be passed to police in Stornoway by calling 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
