BG Group

A break in the weather allowed an oil accommodation platform to be towed down the length of the Western Isles.

The 108 metre long Borgholm Dolphin flotel or accommodation rig - has come off contract after being stationed by the BG operated Lomond rig - which is undergoing an upgrade - in the North Sea, about 145 miles east of Aberdeen, for the past seven months.

On route to Belfast for orders, the 15,000 gross tonnage Borgholm passed some 12 miles, at her closest approach, west of the Hebrides on Sunday.

She is owned by Dolphin Drilling, part of the Fred Olsen group.

The Borgholm was the setting for a 2005 film called the Secret Life of Words.
