A repeat offender who failed to complete his community service work has been sent to jail.

John Anthony Macneil was originally sentenced to unpaid work under a community payback order imposed for three separate assaults in 2012 as well as drink driving while over three times the alcohol limit last year.

The 21-year-old whose address was given as Clover, Ardnamonie, South Uist, was previously warned he would lose his freedom unless he changed his priorities.

He got no more last chances when he appeared at Lochmaddy Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

Macneil was previously convicted of drink driving in July 2013, attacking two family members in November 2012 as well as assaulting a man at Balivanich Hall the following month.

He was sentenced to a total of nine months.
