The funeral of Gaelic entertainer Norman Maclean takes place on Tuesday.

The 80-year-old died in Balivanich hospital in Benbecula on Thursday.

His funeral service takes place at 12 noon on Tuesday in Carinish Free Church of Scotland in North Uist.

Afterwards he will be buried in Kilmuir on the west side of the island.

No flowers are requested but memorial donations may be made to The Caladh Trust in Benbecula, a registered local charity which helps people and families affected by alcohol and drug misuse.

A note from Carinish Free Church said: “We are thankful for the privilege of having had Norman worshipping with us at the Sunday afternoon service in An Caladh, and at midweek bible studies, for the past seven and a half years, and are particularly grateful for the bond that existed between himself and the children of the congregation.

“We wish to thank those in different places who persevered in prayer for him, some over many decades, and we rejoice that these prayers were wonderfully answered.”
