A man who drove without insurance has been disqualified from driving for six months.

Kenneth Macleod of Ranish, North Lochs, was also instructed to carry out 30 hours of unpaid community service work within the next six months.

Lawyer David Teale told Stornoway Sheriff Court heard the 31-year-old had been given an old vehicle and had done it up. He was heading into Stornoway to sell it when he was caught in July.

The court heard Macleod - who pleaded guilty to the charge - had a provisional licence but never passed his driving test.
