An island youth was caught by police after they checked national computer records from the roadside and found out the car going past them at 8.10am one morning in February was not insured.

The teenager was stopped at Borve on the west side of Lewis and it was discovered he did not have a licence.

He was fined £400 and received six penalty points when the case called in Stornoway Sheriff Court.
