As a recent resident of Churchill Drive and a continued interested observer
of Island issues I am pleased to see the Comhairle press release confirming the new
arrangements for residents of the Springfield Road area to gain access to Stornoway
centre.
That this has been achieved is an example of the success of local activism to achieve for the community.
Cllr Nicolson's support when other Cllr's were somewhat less supportive was appreciated as was the support of the local community association but particularly the local residents who spoke up and got out on the doorsteps to get the petition signed.
A clear demonstration of local activity to achieve for local residents and those elsewhere in Stornoway needing to access services such as the health centre in the Springfield Road area.
