New pedestrian path round Nicolson Institute 20/2/12
With the new Nicolson Institute being built over a right of way , a permanent pedestrian path will be routed around the sports centre instead. It will run from Smith Avenue car park, along Springfield Road, along the west side of Ionad Spòrs Leòdhais leading to Sandwick Road. It is planned that this route will be available from late August 2012.
A second route, to be provided on a grace and favour basis, is also incorporated
within the design of the campus. This route will provide a direct route along the
full length of Springfield Road, through the school campus and terminating at the
Mathseson Road/Springfield Road junction. It is planned for this route to be available
during weekday evenings out-
Local councillor Charlie Nicolson said: “Following community consultation and agreement, I am very pleased that these routes are being provided and I look forward to the completion of this exciting project which will result in a significantly enhanced secondary school for our community.”
