Sir,

I would like to advise Dr David Wilson that I do not 'thank my lucky stars' for the fact that I live in Scotland, and that Scotland's NHS might not be as bad as that in parts of England.

Unlike Dr Wilson, I take no pleasure in that fact that both the Tory government in Westminster and SNP government in Holyrood are depriving our NHS of the finance it needs.

Unlike him, I choose to campaign against any government in the UK that refuses to use its taxation raising powers to raise sufficient income to fund our national health services, and I also campaign against governments like the Tories and the SNP that protect the incomes of the wealthiest people in society against fair taxation systems whilst the NHS and other vital services remain under-resourced.

Dr Wilson's cheap attempt to turn my comments into an attack on local NHS staff is of course demeaning to his cause, and should be seen for what they are, an attempt by him to deflect attention from the facts.
