A Western Isles seaman has been fined £1,350 for assaulting a woman twice at New Year.

Lawyer Luke O’ Curry told Stornoway Sheriff Court that Kenneth Maclennan “lost his temper” on Hogmanay and pushed the female who then “bounced” off a wall.

Maclennan, formerly of Lewis but now living in Inverness, pleaded guilty to injuring the woman by throwing her against a wall on 31 December and a second assault by head butting her the following day, New Year’s Day.

He also admitted using threatening behaviour.

Sheriff David Sutherland warned he would be jailed if he defaulted on any £50 monthly fine payment.
