The Reverend Terry Taggart has been installed as priest-in-charge of St Peter's Scottish Episcopal Church in Stornoway.

Prior to moving to the island with his wife Samantha, Glasgow-born Rev Taggart served in Lincolnshire.

The church was packed with members and guests as The Right Reverend Kevin Pearson, Bishop of Argyll and the Isles, presided over the service for the Collation and Licensing of Rev Taggart.

The congregation stood to respond wholeheartedly to Bishop Kevin's question, "do you, the people of this charge, commit yourselves to share with Terry in the ministry of this church?"

Guests present, including a number of local ministers, rose to pledge support to Rev Taggart and St Peter's.

The Rev Tommy Macneil, of Martin's Memorial Church of Scotland, welcomed the new pastor, inviting him to "join with all who minister in Christ's name in these islands."

A celebration of the Eucharist followed.
