the Stornoway -
Hebridean Air Services hope to provide air services twice daily for three days a
week, an improvement compared to the present set-
The local authority advertised a tender for the subsidised air link to commence next month.
Until now Loganair has been a long term operator of the link, often being the sole bidder.
But the service has reduced over the years due to rising costs.
The council is looking favourably on arrangements submitted by Hebridean Air Services over a proposal for return flights from Stornoway on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
Under the arrangements the airline would base a plane at Stornoway Airport for the Benbecula service. The aircraft would relocate to Oban Airport on other days.
Loganair is not accepting bookings for the service after 28 March and declined to comment on the route when approached by Hebrides News.
Hebridean Air Services currently operates scheduled service flights to the islands of Coll, Tiree, and Colonsay under an contract with Argyll and Bute Council.
