New mart operator

United Auctions has been appointed as the new operators of Oban livestock mart.

Five contenders bid for a contract to operate the facility which is well used by Barra and Uist crofters.

United Auctions -which also conducts the auctioneering service at the Lochbisdale sales - take over from Caledonian Marts which ran the centre for many years.

The first sale under United Auctions will be on Tuesday 13 June.
