A new modern Church of Scotland manse is being built in Uig, Lewis.

The new property is being built on church ground adjacent to the existing manse at Uigean by O' Mac Construction to serve the linked charge of Lochs-in-Bernera with Uig.

At present, the minister, Rev Hugh M. Stewart, and his family live in a temporary manse in Bernera.

Given a smooth passage for the building work, it is hoped that the new-build will be ready for occupation during November.

Foundations have just been completed and delivery of a timber kit is now awaited.

When finished, the detached four bedroom home - with two public rooms and an office/study plus an attached garage - will enjoy stunning views across West Loch Roag towards Great Bernera.

The former Church of Scotland manses at Uigean and Breacelete in Bernera are to be sold, and will be marketed locally in the near future.
